  8. I saw you on Tuesday morning outside Fruitvale and wondered what you were up to. The local paper just printed a small article of your journey and here i am checking it out. Best of luck. I did a similar journey 20 years ago from Victoria to Ottawa. It restored my faith in humanity. I'm sure this trip will be no different for you.

Check it out. Page 9. http://www.nelsonstar.com/eeditions/?iid=i20130502071038880

    1. Hi Dana,

Thank you for your words of encouragement. You are absolutely correct, this journey is definitely restoring my faith in mankind. I have met so many amazing people with great hearts.

As of May 10th, 2013 - I am in Creston. I am taking a couple off days to catch up on my website and to rest from the mountain I just climbed. Thank you for the news article link. I learned about program called Couch Surfing along my journey, and have been able to rest from time to time. What a great program. I have also joined a program called HelpX. Together these programs allow me to have a roof over my head, a shower and a hot meal. As well as the needed rest. Take care and thank you for you comment.

  10. Boyd!

It was so great to meet you yesterday! Like most people, I think, who have met you, I have been incredibly inspired by you. It takes a lot of courage to do what you're doing!!
Ironic, that you were in Creston for a few days, and we didn't meet you till Cranbrook!
I hope your journey to discover the amazing side of humanity, and the adventure of finding God's true character will only continue to grow you!

    Take care of yourself :)

I can see the love that you and your sister share. Just how you two held each other inspired me to contact my sister and brothers. We too have great love for each other. You are about to embark on an increasable journey of motherhood. From the love I saw between you and your sister, I am 100% positive that you will be an amazing mother. Take care.

Hey Boyd! We met at the Bow Valley Parkway (Banff) at the bench. We hope you're doing ok! We heard about the fluds.. wow.. we left thursday morning from Calgary Airport, so we got out in time. We also hope this situation doesn't obstruct your journey! but you can always see it as an extra push from nature to test you! Make sure you pass it! ;-)

We also wish the best for all the Canadian people who are affected by the fluds!

    1. Hi Thomas & Ester,

I am fine. I was attacted by a wolf on Highway 1A the next day. I had to use my bear spray to ward him off. I made it to Banff where my friend picked me up. We went to Canmore, where that night, we were evacuated from the flood at Cougar Creek. I am still here in Canmore helping my friends Gerald and Debbie fix thier business and home. I am doing great. It was quite the day though but I am fine. Things truely happen for a reason. If I had not been attacted my a wolf I would have camped out right in the middle of a flood and most likely been swept down stream. I have my higher power looking after me. Thank God. Hope all is well with you. Glad to here that you made it out safe and sound. Hope you enjoyed your visit in Canada. When I deside to back pack Europe, I wull look you guys up. Take care and God bless.

We enjoyed our visit very much. We already want to go back. :-)
Always welcome here, we look forward to it :-) ! Good luck and safe travels!

  17. Hey Boyd,

Are you not afraid of the wildlife across Canada? I am thinking of doing something similar to you and the timber wolves in Ontario freak me out! How do you deal with the animal who may want to attack you?

    1. Hi Josh,

The only advice I have is to carry bear spray with you. Bear whistle is also recommended. Try and stay within close proximity of other people if at all possible. Remember that humans are not wolves natural prey and that they don't normally attack humans. Hope your journey goes well.

  24. Hi Boyd - I met you on Friday (Nov 14) along Highway 17 and we had a chance to talk about your journey. I travelled the same highway (between Ottawa-North Bay) both Monday and Tuesday this week and looked for you but didn't see you at all. Just wondering how far you have gone and whether you have made it close to Ottawa yet. Thought I would send out a quick hello so that you know that my family and I are sending you our wishes and prayers and that we will keep checking your blog on how you are doing. Take care!! Debbie

Here is Richard Hamel the guy you met at Sheffield camping about 10 days ago. We had a couple of beers at my picnic table table and we talked diving. Hope you are doing well and the journey advances. Also hope your knee (or leg) is doing better. I remember you saying how painful it was. All the best. Will check you out every once in awhile to see your progress. God bless

  28. Very inspiring, Boyd! I saw you sitting down off the highway just before Madeira Park yesterday...I was only a couple of blocks from home or I would've given you a ride! I'll read your book when it comes out. I also believe that walking is a remarkable way to heal although I do my walking in the forest. Your goal for awareness about depression is an honourable one and I'm sure you'll have many amazing adventures and insights to share with us along the way. All the best of luck to you! Happy trails!

  29. I drove by Boyd just outside of Brentwood in Victoria and pulled over and flagged him down for a quick chat as I was still on the work clock. Spoke briefly and gave him what i had in my wallet to assist with meals or supplies, will donate again on payday as I see very little movement on his gofundme page. ( Maybe it's time to share Boyd's journey with the Reddit community to see if we can't bolster some more support for Boyd) I admire what you are doing and wish you all the best my friend safe journey and I'll ask the creator to protect you.

  31. Hi Boyd, It was a pleasure sharing the "Birds on Horses " moment with you just outside of Erickson yesterday. Mylo is usually not so timid but I do agree with your thought that your backpack may have been the cause. I see from earlier posts that you passed through my favorite Artisan Community of Crawford Bay over the long weekend. My wife and I plan to retire there next year so please look us up if you are ever back that way. I hope the sun lights your way daily and the wind is always at your back. Good luck in your quest and remember "Happiness is mostly a by-product of doing what makes us feel fulfilled".
